2011 NFL Rookie Class for Quarterbacks

This season’s rookie class say many quarterbacks start, even from the beginning. Cam Newton led them all statiscally, breaking the record for QB rushing touchdowns in a season (14) and passing yards for a rookie. Andy Dalton led the Bengals to a surprise playoff berth, as a second round pick. Blaine Gabbert struggled for the Jaguars, and needs to resurrect himself so he does not get the “bust” label. Christian Ponder had a decent season for the Vikings, and looks like he could be the quarterback of the future in Minnesota. The Vikings did finish a measly (2-14). 5th rounder T.J. Yates out of North Carolina took over Matt Schaub and did good enough, and the Texans won a playoff game under his watch. He will likely not start next season, and probably will be behind Matt Schaub and Matt Leinart next season. Both were placed on injured reserve last season.

I think this     is how they will end upee when it is all said and done. (1st     through 3rd Rounders)

Rk  Name                                Team

  1. 1.       Cam     Newton                    Carolina     Panthers
  2. 2.       Jake     Locker                       Tennesse     Titans
  3. 3.       Ryan     Mallett                    New     England Patriots
  4. 4.       Christian     Ponder             Minnesota Vikings
  5. 5.       Andy     Dalton                     Cincinnati     Bengals
  6. 6.       Blaine     Gabbert                Jacksonville     Jaguars
  7. 7.       Colin     Kaepernick             San Francisco     49ers

8thoverall pick Jake Locker threw 4 touchdowns filling in for an injured Matt Hasselbeck, but lost to the 2-14 Indianapolis Colts. Ryan Mallett, a third rounder, backed up Tom Brady with Brian Hoyer and might be groomed like Aaron Rodgers, gaining experience behind Tom Brady in the Super Bowl. Second Rounder Colin Kaepernick struggled in training camp for the San Francisco 49ers and really battled to be the backup to Alex Smith with undrafted rookie Scott Tolzien from Wisconsin. Greg McElroy and Pat Devlin did not see much time for their respective teams, but McElroy gained more attention lashing out on the condition of the New York Jets locker room on a local radio station in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. (He went to ‘Bama).
